Job Description

EcoAtivo is an association that develops environmental and ecological actions and projects for the regeneration of our planet. We work across various environmental areas in and around the municipalities of Fundão and Covilhã, and we also hold an incubation protocol through the Fundão Municipal Council’s incubator. EcoAtivo brings together a collective of diverse individuals united by a common goal: to contribute to sustainability through actions of protection and conservation of Nature, with a regenerative approach grounded in community engagement and citizen participation.

To support these actions, EcoAtivo is looking to strengthen its team by taking on an ATIVAR intern to work on Environmental Education initiatives, as we believe that change begins with the younger generations. With this in mind, we intend to act through:

  • Promoting educational activities at events and in partnership with local associations;
  • Facilitating environmental educational activities at the organisation’s own events for different target audiences (primary and secondary school students, university students, farmers, teachers, and local residents).

Time will be divided so as to provide a healthy day-to-day balance between practical and intellectual work. There will also be agroforestry interventions, which will always be carried out alongside a team member, offering a unique learning opportunity.

Training and Experience

  • Degree or Master’s in Biology, Ecology, or Environmental Engineering;
  • Experience in facilitating educational activities;
  • Project management and implementation.

 

Personal Skills

  • Planning and organisational ability, with a strong sense of responsibility and initiative;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams;
  • Team-oriented mindset;
  • Ability to think strategically, solve problems effectively and tenaciously to ensure results;
  • Strong ability to articulate process logic and technical concepts, including the preparation and delivery of technical presentations;
  • Time management skills;
  • Computer literacy at user level (Word, Canva, Zoom, Google);
  • Enjoyment of working with the public, including younger audiences;
  • Fluency in Portuguese and English.

 

Requirements

  • Meet the eligibility criteria for a professional internship under the IEFP’s ATIVAR programme (https://www.iefp.pt/ativar.pt?tab=estagios-ativar-pt);
  • Availability to work 8 hours per day;
  • Commitment to completing the full 9-month internship period;
  • Availability to reside near the workplace (parish of Paúl, municipality of Covilhã).

Desirable

  • Experience in managing and implementing social or environmental projects;
  • Driving licence and own means of transport;
  • Ability to facilitate and lead environmental education activities;
  • A portfolio of workshops, talks, or activities in the field of environmental education.

Tasks

  • Independent planning and delivery of educational activities within projects or partnerships;
  • Creating and maintaining comprehensive project documentation;
  • Supporting the team in the development and implementation of projects;
  • Managing EcoAtivo’s social media channels.

INFORMATION ON INTERN SUPPORT

 

Monthly internship grant, the value of which is set according to qualification level:

  • 1 IAS* — no qualification, level 1 and 2: €438.81
  • 1.2 IAS — level 3: €526.57
  • 1.4 IAS — level 4: €614.33
  • 1.5 IAS — level 5: €658.22
  • 1.8 IAS — level 6: €789.86
  • 2.1 IAS — level 7: €921.50
  • 2.4 IAS — level 8: €1,053.14
 
  • Meal allowance or food subsidy;
  • Transport — if the host organisation does not provide transport between the intern’s usual place of residence and the internship location, reimbursement of the cost of travel by public transport, or, where this is not possible, a monthly transport subsidy of 10% of the IAS: €43.88;
  • Work accident insurance;
  • Technical support within the framework of post-placement follow-up..
