Job description
The EcoAtivo association develops environmental/ecological actions and projects for the regeneration of our planet. We operate across various environmental areas in and around the municipalities of Fundão and Covilhã, and we also have an incubation agreement through the Fundão Municipal Council’s incubator. EcoAtivo is made up of a collective of different people with a common goal — to contribute to sustainability through actions of protection and conservation of Nature, following a regenerative approach based on community involvement and citizen participation.
To support these actions, EcoAtivo is looking to strengthen its team by bringing on an ATIVAR intern to work on Environmental Education initiatives, as we believe that change begins with the younger generations. In this way, we aim to act through:
- Promoting educational activities at events and with associations in the region;
- Running environmental educational activities at events organized by EcoAtivo itself, aimed at different target audiences (primary and secondary school students, university students, farmers, teachers, and local residents);
Time will be structured to provide a healthy day-to-day balance between practical and intellectual work. There will also be interventions in the agroforest, always accompanied by a team member, offering a unique learning opportunity.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Ecology, or Environmental Engineering;
- Experience organizing and running educational activities;
- Project management and execution.
Personal Skills
- Planning and organizational skills, strong sense of responsibility and initiative;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams;
- Team-oriented mindset;
- Ability to think strategically and solve problems effectively and persistently to ensure results;
- Strong ability to articulate process logic and technical concepts, including building and delivering technical presentations;
- Time management skills;
- User-level computer skills (Word, Canva, Zoom, Google);
- Enjoyment of working with the public, including younger audiences;
- Fluency in Portuguese and English.
Requirements
- Meet the eligibility criteria for a professional internship under IEFP’s ATIVAR program (https://www.iefp.pt/ativar.pt?tab=estagios-ativar-pt)
- Availability to work 8 hours per day;
- Ability to commit to the internship for a period of 9 months;
- Availability to reside near the workplace (Paúl parish, Covilhã municipality).
Desirable
- Experience in managing and executing social or environmental projects;
- Driver’s license and own means of transport;
- Ability to facilitate and lead environmental education activities;
- A portfolio of workshops/talks/activities in the field of environmental education.

A associação EcoAtivo desenvolve ações e projetos ambientais/ecológicos para a regeneração do nosso planeta. Atuamos em diversas áreas ambientais nos arredores do município do Fundão e Covilhã, e inclusive, temos um protocolo de incubação através da incubadora da Câmara do Fundão. Da EcoAtivo fazem parte um coletivo de diferentes pessoas, com um objetivo comum – o de contribuir para a sustentabilidade através de ações de proteção e conservação da Natureza numa abordagem regenerativa, de envolvimento comunitário e participação-cidadã. Para apoiar estas ações, a Ecoativo procura reforçar a sua equipa com a admissão de um/a estagiário ATIVAR para atuar em ações de Educação Ambiental, pois acreditamos que é através dos mais novos que a mudança começa. Desta forma pretendemos agir com: · Promoção de atividades educativas em eventos e com associações da região; · Dinamização de atividades educativas ambientais em eventos da própria organização para diferentes públicos alvo (alunos do básico e secundário, universitários, agricultores, professores, residentes da região); O tempo será dividido de forma a proporcionar um equilíbrio saudável no dia a dia entre o trabalho prático e intelectual. Ocorrerão também intervenções na agrofloresta que serão sempre acompanhadas com alguém da equipa, oferecendo uma oportunidade única de aprendizagem.

Formação e Experiência
· Licenciados ou Mestrados na área de Biologia, Ecologia, Engenharia Ambiental; · Experiência na dinamização de atividades educativas; · Gestão e execução de projetos.

INFORMATION ON INTERN SUPPORT
Monthly internship stipend, with the amount set according to qualification level
- 1 IAS* – no qualification level, level 1 and 2: €438.81
- 1.2 IAS – level 3: €526.57
- 1.4 IAS – level 4: €614.33
- 1.5 IAS – level 5: €658.22
- 1.8 IAS – level 6: €789.86
- 2.1 IAS – level 7: €921.50
- 2.4 IAS – level 8: €1053.14
- Meal or food allowance;
- Transport — if the promoting entity does not provide transport between the intern’s usual residence and the internship location, payment of public transport costs, or, if public transport is not a viable option, a monthly transport allowance of 10% of the IAS: €43.88;
- Work accident insurance;
- Technical support as part of post-placement follow-up.
